The GRX RD-RX822 12-speed rear derailleur comes in two versions.
One with a medium shift lever (GS) for cassettes with 11 - 45 teeth and one with a long shift lever (SGS) for cassettes with 11 - 51 teeth.
All those who continue to push their personal best times, or who fight for victory at the front of the field, will appreciate the narrow gear ratio of the single x 12-speed set-up with a 10 - 45 cassette in combination with a 40 or 42 tooth chainring. This means that the right gearing is available in every riding or racing situation, enabling exactly the right cadence.
For all-day tours – or multi-day adventures – with many climbing sections, the single x 12-speed option with 10 - 51 cassette, in combination with a 40 or 42 tooth chainring, offers a wide gear range. This configuration provides optimal mountain gears for the steepest forest trails or mountain climbs.

As for all GRX rear derailleurs, the clever developers of the Japanese industry giant have used the long proven Shadow RD+ technology from the mountain bike sector for the GRX RX822 rear derailleur, featuring a friction damper that slows down the forward and backward movement of the rear derailleur. This significantly reduces the risk of chain bouncing and jump off and shifting into the wrong gear, while significantly reducing chain noise.
This guarantees silent, smooth, precise and reliable gear changes in challenging terrain. Whether riding off tarmac roads and on dusty gravel roads, going on a bikepacking adventure with lots of luggage or doing classic cyclocross.
