But when you’re riding rough gravel trails, you’ll need solid wheel equipment that is designed for the higher total weight and increased stress on the material from the electric support. The reliable E-specific components of the HG 1800 System wheel from DT Swiss is made for dusty gravel tracks and cross-country trails. The hub for disc brakes has industrial bearings and is connected with 28 reinforced spokes to the solid aluminium rim. If there is enough space in the frame and between the chainstays, then thicker, off-road tyres can be mounted on the wide aluminium rim, to add more volume to the rim. If necessary, tyre widths far beyond the usual 35-40 mm can be mounted, with which you benefit from more traction, grip and comfort. The comfort gain of voluminous 650B tyres is immediately noticeable, not only on cobblestones. Especially on narrow bumpy paths and winding forest trails, the agile 27.5 inch wheel can really show off its strengths. When manoeuvring over challenging passages, it supports you with reliable control and safe handling.

Technologies:

• ROAD BOOST:
With the ROAD BOOST standard, the distance between the hub flanges is increased to improve stiffness and stability with a flatter spoke angle. This reduces the stress on the material by improving symmetry, which in turn greater durability. DT Swiss prefers the Road Boost standard for use on e-road bikes. With high loads from the driver and engine assistance, it better compensates for torsional forces and improves steering characteristics under load.

• TUBELESS:
All DT Swiss wheels are tubeless ready. The profiles of the DT Swiss rims are specially designed for tubeless use. The rim profile makes it easier to fit the right tyre and ensures a perfect fit. The tubeless system of the rim consists of DT Swiss Tubeless Ready Tape for sealing and a DT Swiss tubeless valve in a length that complies with the rim. When using tubeless ready tyres, it is mandatory to use a compatible sealant. However, it is also possible to use a conventional combination of tyre and inner tube.

• BEARINGS:
Thanks to years of experience, DT Swiss only uses durable cartridge bearings without bearing play adjustment. DT Swiss hubs are designed to have the optimum axial and radial bearing play when they are properly installed. The correct preload of the bearings to compensate for the clamping force of the wheel mounting system is the basis for a play-free hub with minimum friction.

• PRO LOCK®:
DT Pro Lock® prevents the spoke-nipple connection from loosening. In the Pro Lock® process, a special dual component adhesive is injected into the nipple thread, allowing for extremely durable wheel builds. By threading the nipple onto the spoke the adhesive is activated and then hardens completely within a few hours. Re-truing the wheel is possible, yet it will cause a slight decrease in the adhesive power each time.
